Cherokee Apparel Company is Dressed for Success

October 15, 2015

For nearly 35 years, LAT Apparel, previously LAT Sportswear, has called Cherokee County home. Based in the Ball Ground area, LAT is setting their sights on future business growth with the announcement of a land purchase of approximately 45 acres to build a new headquarters facility.

Currently located on Airport Drive in Ball Ground, the plans are set to construct a new 166,000 sq. ft. building at 137 Leo Taylor Lane. All operations, including their headquarters will be moved to the new address. “This new construction will allow our operations to be under one roof,” said Gina Watson, LAT Apparel CEO. The location will result in a capital investment of $9.6 million. The company has contracted with Rooker for the completion of the building. “We are excited to be working with LAT on their expansion needs and plan to deliver their new facility on March 15, 2016,” said John Rooker, CEO.

“Seeing our industries, like LAT, plan for growth and future business is a clear indicator of Cherokee’s healthy economy,” said Cherokee Office of Economic Development Chairman, Marshall Day. “We are excited to see this company continue to flourish in our community.”

This expansion will allow for the creation of thirty new jobs. LAT, who specializes in t-shirts, sweatshirts and other clothing items, currently has close to one hundred in their workforce. “When looking for new land options, there was no question that we would stay in Cherokee,” said Watson. “The support of this community has guided us to where we are today.”
