Cherokee supports business park expansion
The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners is throwing its weight behind expansion of a local business park.
Commissioners voted to loan the Cherokee County Office of Economic Development $1.5 million to buy almost 29 acres of land in the Cherokee 75 Corporate Park. County officials said they will be paid back when the COED group sells the land to a new tenant. Commission chair Buzz Ahrens said at minimum, county officials will put the purchase price back into a SPLOST account earmarked for further economic development, while any excess could be used in other ways.
