New Cherokee Workforce Collaborative Logo Reflects Sense of Community

May 1, 2018

The Cherokee Workforce Collaborative – a united, community-based partnership created by the Cherokee Office of Economic Development (COED) to strengthen Cherokee’s pipeline of skilled workers –  unveiled a new logo and brand identity today. The new logo reflects a strong sense of community, highlighting the collaborative’s key partnerships with business, government, education, and local organizations.

“The new Cherokee Workforce Collaborative brand identity is reflective of the collaborative’s commitment to being a strong, united voice for Cherokee’s workforce,” said Danny Meece, Facilities Manager at Inalfa Roof Systems. “Convening a ‘brain trust’ from the public and private sector is a true game-changer for ensuring Cherokee County maintains a strong and competitive workforce for generations to come.”

The Cherokee Workforce Collaborative’s new logo was designed by Tom Cox Design Studio, which was also responsible for the brand identity of Reformation Brewery, the City of Woodstock, and Fresh Start Cherokee.

The logo’s tagline, “A World of Opportunity,” captures the spirit of Cherokee’s innovative business environment and limitless career opportunities. The logo’s focal point, which highlights business, education, government, and local organizations, is rooted in the Cherokee Workforce Collaborative’s fresh approach to growing the workforce through a community partnership built on relationships.

The Cherokee Workforce Collaborative was developed in direct response to the needs identified in the Opportunity Cherokee Economic Development Strategy, which served as the blueprint for the Cherokee Workforce Collaborative Implementation Plan – a robust economic development strategy designed in partnership with the Carl Vinson Institute of Government at the University of Georgia to close the skills gaps and strengthen Cherokee’s workforce. The collaborative meets regularly and consists of the following committees:

  • Internships Committee
  • Innovative Career Preparation Committee
  • Business and Education Alliances Committee

Some of the most significant achievements of the Cherokee Workforce Collaborate over the past year include the development of free internship templates for local employers, the creation of a comprehensive database of local industry sectors hiring Work-Based Learning students, and coordination with the Cherokee County School District to ensure CTAE offerings match current and future industry demands.  The collaborative is also working with the Cherokee Office of Economic Development on the development of a comprehensive clearinghouse for jobs, internships, and workforce development initiatives on the COED website, which is expected to launch in the coming months.

“There is no better place to engage with the local business community and hear about the needs of existing and future industry than the Cherokee Workforce Collaborative,” said Steve Payne, Curriculum Coordinator (CTAE: Career, Technical, & Agricultural Education) for the Cherokee County School District. “Workforce development is an investment in our future and the key ingredient to ensuring Cherokee remains a leader in economic and workforce development.”

This spring, the collaborative announced plans to launch Cherokee County’s first ever summer pilot internship program for local high school students, an initiative that will provide mentorship and hands-on training for motivated high school students.
