The Cherokee Office of Economic Development (COED) is the county’s sales and marketing arm, the lead agency for attracting new business investment, encouraging the expansion of existing industry and small businesses, providing entrepreneurial support, aligning workforce education and training with in-demand jobs, promoting our county for film projects, as well as planning and mobilizing county resources for economic development.

The COED is looking for a talented Executive Assistant who is passionate about organization, financial management, and planning.  This individual must act as the brand ambassador of the COED and be well organized with a strong communication skill set.

Area of Responsibilities:

Executive Support, Office Management & Organization:

  • Completes a broad variety of administrative tasks for the President including: managing an active calendar of appointments, composing and preparing correspondence that is sometimes confidential, arranging travel plans, and compiling necessary documents for related meetings.
  • Researches, prioritizes, and follows up on incoming issues and concerns addressed to the Economic Development team, including those of a sensitive or confidential nature. Determines appropriate course of action, referral, or response.

Board Meeting Support and Coordination:

  • Serves as the administrative liaison to Development Authority of Cherokee County(DACC) board of directors, Cherokee County Development Authority (CCDA) board of directors and Cherokee 75 Corporate Park Owners Association.
  • Adhere to compliance with applicable rules and regulations set in bylaws regarding board and board committee matters, including advance distribution of materials before meetings in electronic/paper format.

Financial Management:

  • Opens mail, process accounts payable and receivable, orders all office equipment and supplies, and processes office payroll.
  • Maintains and reconciles bank accounts.
  • Develops reports and assistance on yearly budget projections.
  • Prepares financial information for annual audit and the processing of quarterly and annual tax returns.
  • Prepares and files all necessary government surveys and reporting requirements with the Georgia Secretary of State, Georgia Department of Audits, Georgia Department of Community Affairs, Department of Treasury and Department of Labor and United States Department of Commerce.
  • Coordination of all legal documents including signatures, authority seal, reports, mailings, etc.
  • Prepares and processes all expense reports for all employees.

Event Planning and Communication:

  • Organize several annual events managing the necessary details for facilities, catering, entertainment, transportation, location, invitee list, special guests, equipment, promotional material etc.
  • Assist with marketing and advertising tasks including social media content as applicable.

This Executive Assistant position might be the role for you if:

  • You have at least 3-5 year’s experience supporting a team in a fast-paced, customer focused office environment and have exceptional organization and facilitation skills.
  • You are a self-starter who is never content with good enough and you are always on the lookout for ways to improve efficiency, quality, and scale.
  • You are proficient in QuickBooks or similar financial software.
  • You are proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point), Adobe Acrobat, and Social Media web platforms.
