John Marinko has called Georgia home for almost 40 years and has lived in Cherokee County for 20 of those years. John studied electrical engineering at Southern Illinois University, non-destructive testing certification at Rolla School of Mines, and advanced mechanical mathematics at Amarillo College. John is a Commercial Multi-engine Certified Flight Instructor and Airline Transport Pilot. He served in the US Air Force four years active and two years reserved duty serving one combat tour of duty in Vietnam. John’s long career in aviation spanned 41 years in Corporate Aviation and included flying for the Governor of the State of Illinois and many dignitaries as Chief Pilot and Vice President of Aviation for several Fortune 500 companies. When he retired, John became active in Cherokee County activities.  A former Vice Chairman for ten years for the Cherokee County Airport Authority, John remains active on the CCAA board. John has been an active member of the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce for over 5 years and serves on the Education, Governmental Affairs, and Workforce Development committees. John and his wife Teri live in Canton and have 4 adult children and 9 grandchildren, all who reside in the Atlanta area.
