COED hosts First Lady Sandra Deal at Women in Business Reception

The Cherokee Office of Economic Development (COED) was honored to host First Lady Sandra Deal for a Women in Business reception on Tuesday, September 23rd at Goin’ Coastal in Downtown Canton. Twenty Cherokee County business women attended to reception where Deal shared her passion for education, children and family. Throughout the hour event, First Lady Deal took the time to hear from each attendee regarding their position in business. She shared a personal thought and appreciation with each story told.

Prior to the Women in Business reception, Deal spent the day visiting three schools as well as the Family Violence Center. She also toured Morrison Products, Inc., a female owned local industry specializing in the production of blower wheels for air conditioning units. Throughout the tour Deal listened intently to Mike Chapman, Plant Manager, as he explained their manufacturing process. Deal stated, that it was important for us to learn about businesses who have made it through the rough times and are thriving. She stressed the importance of educating our youth about the variety of opportunities that are available as they enter the workforce.

The Cherokee Office of Economic Development thanked First Lady Sandra Deal for taking the time to learn more about our community.  “The connection between education and industry is imperative as we forecast the needs of businesses. Mrs. Deal fully understands those needs,” said Misti Martin, President of COED.
