Hundreds of Jobs Available at Cherokee Career Expo

March 10, 2017

A total of 36 employers will be on hand for the second annual event, set for March 15 in Canton.

CANTON, GA — Next week, the Cherokee Office of Economic Development will bring you an opportunity to jump-start your career or find your first job.

The agency, along with the Georgia Department of Labor, will host the third annual Cherokee Career Expo from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 15 at the Northside Hospital-Cherokee Conference Center.

Thirty-six of Cherokee County’s largest employers will be on hand, and are seeking to fill more than 330 career opportunities in your own backyard.

Employers including Chart Industries, Northside Hospital-Cherokee, Universal Alloy Corporation, Jaipur Living, Oechsler Motion (adidas SPEEDFACTORY), Papa Johns and many others will be represented at this year’s Expo.

The career opportunities range from health care, engineering, project management, sales and customer service to administration, finance and manufacturing positions. For a complete listing of participating employers and open positions visit COED’s website.

Resume assistance will be available beginning at 1 p.m. provided by Reinhardt University and Chattahoochee Technical College’s career services centers. Employers will begin meeting job seekers at 2 p.m. Candidates should dress for success and bring plenty of copies of their resumes.

The Expo is the perfect place for high school or college graduates to find their first job. It is also for those Cherokee residents who simply want to start a new career closer to home.

“With the addition of new companies as well as our expanding industries, Cherokee County is a natural location for our residents to look for positions,” said Marshall Day, COED chairman. “Our employers creating jobs here, empower residents to eliminate their daily commute and a lot of unnecessary stress.”

The Cherokee Office of Economic Development has assisted over 1,300 individuals in their job-seeking endeavors with its career expos.

“What excites me about this year’s Expo, is that longtime existing industries such as LAT Apparel will be represented, as well as new companies like Yanmar will be looking to hire Cherokee’s talented workforce,” said COED President Misti Martin. “Since 78 percent of Cherokee’s residents commute to work out of the county every day, this is the perfect opportunity for those individuals to meet the employers closer to home and learn more about their organization. Our goal is to help our residents get hours back with home and family.”

The Northside Hospital-Cherokee Conference Center is located at 1130 Bluffs Parkway in Canton.
