Experience Cherokee in Photos

WOODSTOCK, GA –The Cherokee Office of Economic Development (COED) is looking for photo submissions of your favorite spots in Cherokee County and its cities. The photos can include local businesses, homes, parks and trails, or landscapes. COED wants to see anything that makes Cherokee feel unique to you.

COED’s offices are located at Chattahoochee Technical College in the former Woodstock Elementary School, along with the Woodstock Office of Economic Development.  With visitors from around the globe, COED wants to create a way for people to experience all that Cherokee County has to offer during their short visit. “The people who visit our office are potential investors in our community,” said COED President Misti Martin. “Whether they are corporate prospects, startups, state and regional partners, or locals, they are considering doing business in Cherokee.  We only get one chance to make a great first impression.  Having this gallery will help support us in telling the story of why they should invest in this place we call home.”

A committee will select a minimum of 15 photos to be featured in a new gallery in the historic halls of the former Woodstock Elementary School. The photos will highlight the community’s attraction for live, work and play.

“In the digital age, we tend to lose some sense of place,” said Bill Grant, President of Grant Design Collaborative and Canton Councilman.  “Photography connects us to our communities, providing visual evidence of our presence. Photos capture the unique essence of place and record a moment in time that will never be repeated. That’s why great images are so powerful.”

Anyone from amateur to professional photographers can submit a photo to show us what you love about the community.  To enter the contest, choose a photo of your favorite spot anywhere in Cherokee County and post it to your Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. You can also send your photos to In your post include your name, the location of the picture, and the hashtag-#CherokeeinPhotos.  Full details for entering can be found here.

All selected photos will also be featured on the offices social media pages as well as COED’s website. When pictures are posted on Facebook, viewers will be asked to vote for their favorite photo. The photo with the most votes will be featured as the “People’s Choice” in the gallery. On August 10, the photos will be revealed in conjunction with an open house of The Circuit and the Cherokee and Woodstock Offices of Economic Development.

Contest entries will be taken until July 12, 2017.
