Cherokee Career Expo Connects Industries to Local Talent

August 30, 2022

The Cherokee Office of Economic Development (COED) will host the 8th Annual Cherokee Career Expo on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, from 2 – 6 pm at the Northside Cherokee Conference Center in Canton. Representatives from Chattahoochee Technical College, Reinhardt University, Goodwill of North Georgia, and the Atlanta Regional Commission will be available for resume review assistance beginning at 1 pm.

“Being able to work close to home improves all areas of your life,” said COED President Misti Martin. “Cherokee is a great place to live, play, and work. Hiring events like the Cherokee Career Expo give a job seeker the chance to meet the company representatives in person to find that perfect fit for employment.”

The annual event is part of COED’s “Forget the Commute” campaign, an initiative designed to reduce the out-commute and help more residents find careers close to home.

Nearly 40 of Cherokee’s top employers representing a wide range of industries will be on hand to network with job seekers. Over 1,000 positions are available in fields such as human resources, sales/marketing, assembly, project management, healthcare, manufacturing, and more.

The expo has proven to be an excellent recruitment tool for Kirk Rudy, Inc., a leading provider of industrial inkjet printing, packaging, newspaper publishing, and card manufacturing based in Woodstock.

“As a specialized equipment manufacturer, the Cherokee Career Expo allows us to interact one-on-one with people and have a conversation about our opportunities,” said Kirk Rudy, Inc. Director of Marketing Jim Williams. “Last year, Marcus McDowell, from Canton, stopped by our booth, and after having a casual chat with him, we realized he would be the perfect fit for our Inkjet Technical Specialist role. We hired him the next day, and Marcus continues to be a huge part of producing one of our specialized digital color printers.”
